Autumn Harvest Blog Hop Day 2 September 2, 2026

Mrs Shank Knits / Crochet Pattern / Autumn Harvest Blog Hop 2026

Welcome to the Autumn Harvest Blog Hop! – Day 2

Today’s feature: a quick, beginner-friendly brain-inspired scrunchie with spooky-season charm and just enough weirdness to keep things interesting.

We’re so happy to be joining Tasha from Stardust Crochet for the 5th annual Autumn Harvest Blog Hop!

This is our third year taking part, and we’re very happy to be back for another round of cozy fall projects, crafty inspiration, and excellent excuses to add something new to your project queue.

And today’s pattern is a fun one.

Meet Finkelstein’s Brain 🧠

Today we’re featuring Finkelstein’s Brain, our squishy little brain-inspired scrunchie pattern.

The name is a nod to one of our favourite mad scientists of all time: Dr. Finkelstein, of Jack-and-Sally Nightmare Before Christmas fame.

It’s a little weird, a little spooky, and exactly the kind of thing we like around here.

The pattern is also a great one for beginners. It’s pretty simple, very forgiving, and by the time you’re finished, you’ll be a pro at at least one stitch. 😂

A quick little project for anyone whose ponytail could use a tiny knitted brain.

It’s a quick, satisfying project that’s perfect for fall — whether you’re leaning fully into spooky season or just feel like your ponytail could use a tiny knitted brain.

  • Beginner-friendly construction
  • Works up in just a few hours
  • Approximately 125 yards of DK yarn
  • Gauge is not important for this pattern

A little doodled version, because apparently this scrunchie needed annotations.
