September has reached that very specific point where summer is technically still hanging around, but everything in me has decided it is fall.
The mornings are cooler. The leaves are getting crunchy. I want cinnamon in everything. Yarn suddenly feels more interesting.
So here’s what I’ve been making, baking, drinking, doing, and generally loving lately. 🍎
Pilates After Work 🧘♀️
I’ve changed when I do Pilates lately, and I think this might be my favourite little routine shift of the month.
Instead of doing it first thing in the morning, I’ve been doing it right after work.
I finish what I’m doing, change into workout clothes, do Pilates, and then that’s it. Work is over. Exercise is done. ✔️
Then I can shower, put on something cozy, make dinner, crochet, watch something, and fully disappear into evening mode.
It has become a really nice little bridge between working May and nobody ask anything of me May. 😂
Highly recommend.
Splenda Brown Sugar in Basically Everything 🤎
I have been baking a lot lately, and Splenda Brown Sugar Blend has become one of those ingredients I keep reaching for.
Sometimes I use it on its own. Sometimes I mix it with a little real brown sugar when I want more of that deep, molasses-y flavour.
For the kinds of things I’ve been baking lately, it hits the spot. 🍪
And there has been a lot of baking.
Cinnamon Rolls, Date Squares & Oatmeal Cookies 🍪🥮
These three have basically been in permanent rotation:

Apparently my September baking personality is “things your grandmother would have put on a plate beside a cup of tea.” ☕️
I accept this.
There is something about cooler weather that makes me want the kitchen to smell like cinnamon, oats, brown sugar, and butter at all times.
Tiny Espressos ☕️
Meanwhile, my coffee has gone in the opposite direction.
No giant sweet coffee situation lately.
I’ve been loving tiny espressos with absolutely nothing in them.
No syrup.
No sugar.
No milk.
Just a tiny, aggressively serious little coffee. 😌
Maybe this is balance.
Crocheting With Velvety Yarn 🧶
Velvety yarn has also made its seasonal return.
There is something very satisfying about crocheting something ridiculously soft once the weather starts changing.
Blankets, plushies, cozy accessories, anything that gives me an excuse to keep touching the yarn while I’m working with it. 🥹
This is also the point in the year where I apparently forget that I already own yarn and begin looking at more yarn.
A dangerous annual tradition. 😂
Knitting With Mohair 🧶✨
Mohair, however, is a more complicated relationship.
Holding a strand of fingering-weight yarn together with mohair?
Beautiful.
Soft.
Fluffy.
Extremely fall-coded. 🍂
Having to rip back four rows because you missed something?
Suddenly we are enemies. 😐
Mohair does not believe in second chances.
Still, I keep doing it because that fuzzy halo is annoyingly worth it.
Crunchy Leaves on Dog Walks 🍁🐾
This is one of those tiny seasonal things I forget how much I like until it comes back.
That first stretch of dog walks where the sidewalks start getting covered in crunchy leaves.
The air is cooler. The trees are changing. Nacho is investigating every leaf as though nobody has ever seen one before. 😂
It makes an ordinary walk feel a little different.
Pumpkins Everywhere, Just Not at My House Yet 🎃
Pumpkins have started appearing outside grocery stores, garden centres, houses, and basically everywhere else.
I love seeing them.
I am also refusing to buy one until the second week of October.
Because if I buy pumpkins in September, I know exactly what happens.
Suddenly it is October 3rd, my porch looks like a pumpkin farm, and I’ve mentally skipped three weeks of fall. 😂
So for now, I am appreciating other people’s pumpkins.
Mine can wait. 🎃
That’s September So Far 🍂
Apparently this month’s theme is:
Move after work. 🧘♀️
Bake something with brown sugar. 🍪
Drink tiny coffee. ☕️
Buy fluffy yarn. 🧶
Walk through crunchy leaves. 🍁
